Welcome Ministry

Mission: To extend Christ’s love by warmly welcoming newcomers and helping them feel at home.

  • Usher

    • Description: Welcome congregation members to the sanctuary. Identify and invite visitors to the hospitality table after service for snacks and drinks.

    • Frequency: Once a month

    • When: On Sundays, before and after 9am and 11am services

Worship Ministry

Mission: To lead God’s people in glorifying Him, growing in Christlikeness, and offering our skills and talents in service.

  • Musician / Singer

    • Description: Lead the congregation in worship through songs by singing or playing a musical instrument - keyboard, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass or drums.

    • Frequency: Once every 4 weeks

    • When: Before Sunday, attend a 2h rehearsal. On Sunday, 9am and 11am services

    Audio-Visual Operator

    • Description: Operate sound systems or projection of service slides during the English Congregation services.

    • Frequency: Once every 4 weeks

    • When: Before Sunday, attend a 2h rehearsal. On Sunday, 9am and 11am services

    Video Operator

    • Description: Operate the video recorder during English Congregation services.

    • Frequency: Once every 4 weeks

    • When: On Sunday, 11am service

  • All worship ministry members must be professing Christians who actively participate in church community life. Church membership is encouraged but not required.

    Musicians and singers should be able to sing or play in a style appropriate to the range of songs in the current song repertoire. AV and Video Operators should be able to operate technical equipment, computers and projectors at a basic level.

  • Q: What level of skill and experience is expected for musicians?
    A: Musicians should have basic competency in reading chord sheets and playing/singing. No prior experience in a band is expected. A simple audition will be conducted to assess applicant's competency.

    Q: Will training be provided for operator roles?
    A: Yes! New joiners will be paired with more experienced team members to learn on-the-job. There will also be an induction period for new joiners. You will only be expected to perform their roles solo when ready and recommended by your respective mentors.

    Q: I don't own an instrument, can I borrow one to practice?
    A: Yes, ministry members can borrow instruments from our common inventory.

Children’s Ministry (EKC)

Mission: To reach and nurture children to know Christ and make Him known.

  • Engagement I/C

    • Description: Engage key stakeholders like children, parents and ministry workers, and be in charge of handling all admin matters.

    • Frequency: Every alternate month

    • When: On Sunday, 10.30am to 12.30pm

    Sunday School Teacher

    • Description: Take care of a class: prepare lessons and materials, engage kids during the lesson, teaching them to love God and His Word.

    • Frequency: Every alternate month

    • When: On Sunday, 10.30am - 12.30pm (each lesson is about 40 minutes long)

    Musician

    • Description: Rehearse and play keyboard or guitar for the children's worship sessions.

    • Frequency: Every alternate month

    • When: On Sunday, 10.15am to 11.45am

    Audio-Visual Operator

    • Description: Ensure audio and visuals work smoothly during service.

    • Frequency: Every alternate month

    • When: On Sunday, 10.15am to 11.45am

  • Those who have experience engaging children, or who are willing to learn to engage children and show them God’s love.

  • Q: Will there be training provided?
    A: There will be a 3 month onboarding period for all new joiners to observe and shadow different areas in the ministry. At the end of the onboarding period, we will review with you as to which area you'd like to serve in with your gifts. Further training will then be provided!

Evergreen Ministry

Mission: To encourage seniors to grow in faith, fellowship, and unity in Christ.

  • Helpers / Befrienders

    • Description: Help facilitate Evergreen events, such as by assisting wheelchair users, setting up the event venue, or by befriending participants.

    • Frequency: On an adhoc basis, about once a month

  • Being hospitable is your second nature, you have a passion to interact, and you love food.

  • Q: Would I need to support event planning?
    A: We are journeying together. There will be monthly meetings over food to discuss and plan gatherings to engage members in meaningful ways to enrich each others' lives.

Food Services

Mission: To provide meals that foster fellowship and strengthen bonds within the church family.

  • Team member

    • Description: Either collect food from vendors, pack food for those who ordered online, or help to sell food over the church kitchen counter.

    • Frequency: Once a month or more

    • When: On Sunday, 9am to 11.30am, or until food finishes

  • Anyone with passion to serve, patience, who enjoys human interaction and has awareness of hygiene.

Member Care

Mission: To show Christ’s love by visiting, supporting, and praying with members in need.

  • Care team member

    • Description: Visit, follow up and pray with Calvarians who are identified by Member Care Ministry as "need help" category, mainly at their homes or in hospitals.

    • Frequency: Twice a month

    • When: On weekdays, about 1h visitations

  • No official requirements, anyone can apply.

  • Q: How are visitations conducted? Do I need experience?
    A: Visitation will be done in pairs so that the team can support each another. We have a community to encourage each other through prayers or sharing of experiences to be relevant. We also share our non-confidential challenges with other care team members and overcome them together.

English Congregation Choir

Mission: To praise God through choral music at worship services on Sundays and other special events.

  • Singer

    • Description: Participate in the church choir as a singer.

    • When: On Friday, attend 8pm - 9.30pm practices. On Sunday, 9am and 11am services on 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

  • Love praising God together with others in music. Able to read music scores is an advantage but not a requirement.

  • Q: What if I'm only available on certain days or times?
    A: You will need to plan early to work other commitments around the choir schedule.

Creative Communications

Mission: To use media creatively to share God’s truth and engage all generations.

  • Member

    • Description: Help plan, record and/or produce videos during special occasions

Chinese Congregation

Mission: To share the gospel and nurture faith among Chinese-speaking people, especially the elderly.

  • Musicians

    • Description: Rehearse and play as a vocalist, pianist, guitarist or drummer in the CC worship team.

    • Frequency: Once a month

    • When: On a weekday, attend a 1h rehearsal. On Sunday, 9am service

    C3 Befrienders

    • Description: Befriend the elderly during outreach events in collaboration with C3, assist them, and influence them for Christ through regular follow-ups.

    • When: On an adhoc basis, attend weekday C3 outings

  • Anyone who has a passion to reach out to the elderly, and able to converse in simple Mandarin.

  • Q: When are music rehearsals normally held?
    A: Arranged weekly, depends on the schedules of the rostered musicians

Bus Driver

Mission: To make church accessible so that all may gather for worship and fellowship.

  • Driver

    • Description: Shuttle church attendees to and from church, before and after services.

    • Frequency: Once a month or more, depending on available manpower.

    • When: On Sunday, 30 minutes before and after 9am or 11am services

  • Confident and safe drivers who have a valid class 3/3A driving license. Experience of driving a van is good but not necessary.

  • Q: How much driving experience is needed?
    A: To ensure the safety of churchgoers, bus drivers should have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience. Applicants will be taken for several test drives before being rostered.

Floral Ministry

Mission: To beautify God’s house with floral arrangements that reflect His creativity and bring joy to worshippers.

  • Floral Team Member

External Partnerships

  • St John’s Home Befrienders

    • Description: Bring St John’s residents to and from church services on Sundays.

    • Frequency: Once a month or more, depending on available manpower.

    • When: On Sunday, 30 minutes before and after Chinese services

  • St John's Home befrienders should be physically strong enough to push wheelchairs.

Teaching

Mission: To faithfully teach God’s Word so that His people are equipped to live for Christ.

  • Teacher / Assistant Teacher

    • Description: Teach the Bible faithfully.

  • Mature Christians with the gift of teaching.
